What's happening in Sauganash Park...
June is bustin' out all over! It's so nice to see all kinds of traffic on the bike trail, people in shorts, flowers in bloom, and the aromas of sunblock and BBQ in the air! It's also a great time for celebration: graduations, showers, weddings, music and food festivals, and, of course, Father's Day! And although the downtown area offers great opportunity to plan and attend special events, the NATO protests rather prohibit the desire and inclination to go there. Thankfully, Sauganash Park and its surrounding areas offer plenty of events and venues to celebrate without hassle or worry. Check out our Calendar of Events for some ideas.
At our April 17th General Meeting, President Bruno Cassettari announced his retirement from the board presidency and introduced a new slate for our Board of Directors for 2012-13, which was subsequently approved by voters in attendance. Doug Fox, a returning Sauganash Park resident, has accepted the role of President; Bill Riordan will serve as Vice President; Treasurer Rich Nicholson, Secretary Brandon Burns, and Chairwoman Evelyn Merkl have all decided to remain in their current capacities. Bruno will continue to co-chair in a limited capacity. In addition, we were fortunate to have some new residents offer their volunteer assistance with special projects. We look forward to the new leadership and fresh beginning for the association.
Chris Kunz even reports that she had the help of a wonderful new volunteer with the Memorial Garden. The Memorial Garden is an ongoing project and always needs attention, so please feel free to contact Chris to help pull a few weeds or do some planting. We still continue to need active board members and volunteers as well. Remember, our 4th of July Picnic and Parade is coming soon. We can never have too many of you!
Wishing you a fantastic summer!
