WHAT'S HAPPENING IN SAUGANASH PARK:

We've always maintained that Sauganash Park is simply one of the best Chicago communities. We see proof of it all the time.

It's not merely evident in the beauty and care of our homes and property. It's also apparent during our neighborhood events and block parties, our public and private school activities and fundraisers, and our general everyday interaction with the people who live in our community. We strive to preserve the way of life that's kept families in our neighborhood for generations. We look out for one another—which has become increasingly important during these troubling times in our city.

When there's a crime or safety issue, you can rest assured that one of our vigilant neighbors will post what they know on Next Door to bring it to others' attention. We've seen everything reported from suspicious persons to attempted break-ins. We've also seen, as recently as this past month, a story featured on Fox News Chicago where reporter, Dane Placko, interviewed one of our community members regarding a light pole with an electrical short that had become a hazard; kids were even getting electrical shocks from merely touching the pole. Within the same day, crews were working diligently to correct the problem. The problem was brought to light by a neighbor on Next Door, who had, for months, repeatedly called for help through 311 and the alderman's office. When the neighbor finally expressed her frustration about it on Next Door, the community responded and got the problem corrected. That, my friends, is how we do it!

We have a true community of concerned individuals who don't just sit back and say "it's not my problem" or "let someone else take care of it." We rally and get things done. Whether it's graffiti in the tunnel, non-working streetlights, or ridding ourselves of squatters, the people of this community take the bull by the horns. That's why the SPCA exists, too. We're a group of volunteers doing our part to keep this community an informed, cohesive and happy. Through our traditional events and services, we hope you see the fruits of our labor.

Our 2016-17 membership has already kicked off. If you haven't already, please consider joining the Association with your $30 membership dues. It's still less than $3/month, and we believe we all benefit the most when we we're all in it together!
