What's happening in Sauganash Park...
Welcome to 2012! We hope that everyone enjoyed their holidays, eased into their regular routines, and will do their due diligence to keep their New Year's promises. For those who have vowed to get their health on track, this unseasonably beautiful weather does make it a little easier to hit the bike trail or walk the neighborhood, doesn't it?
We have the winners of our annual Holiday Home Decorating Contest. The winners are as follows:
First Place: 6026 N. Kedvale ($100 Monastero's gift certificate)
Second Place: 6149 N. Kedvale ($75 Monastero's gift certificate)
Third Place: 6224 N. Kildare ($50 Monastero's gift certificate)
4222 W. Glenlake gets an honorable mention
Year after year we see so many beautiful displays in our neighborhood, but unfortunately, some of our top picks are not SPCA members and cannot be considered. And although the contest is over for the 2011-12 season, it's not too late to join the association. Just $30 per year ($20 for seniors age 64+) helps support our many neighborhood events and services. These include our annual 4th of July Picnic and Parade, the children's Halloween Party at Sauganash Park, our Praying Mantis/Mosquito Abatement program, our Web site--not to mention the time and dedication of our handful of volunteers who make these things happen.
Check out the calendar for some January happenings, and don't forget to mark your own calendar for our General Meeting on April 18th in the Sauganash Elementary School cafeteria.
In the meantime, we wish you all a very happy, healthy, and prosperous new year!
